Why do we collect your data?

We are collecting your details in order to create an account on an online portal where you will be able to:

create and manage event and open day bookings
submit a question
request a copy of our undergraduate prospectus or postgraduate guide
manage your marketing preferences

We collect your name and contact details so that we are able to contact you and we collect details about your country of residence, intended year of study and study preferences so that we are able answer your questions and offer you relevant services. If you request a printed copy of our prospectus (UK only), we will collect your postal address so that we can post it to you.

What do we do with your data?

We will store your data in the UAL SITS database, which is based in the UK. If you ask a question through your portal, this will be sent to the relevant internal team via Microsoft Outlook, and they will respond to your query with an email.

If you submit an enquiry or make an event booking, we will keep a record of this for one year after the enquiry has been closed or the event has finished.

If you request a print prospectus, we will share your name and address details with a fulfilment company who are based in the UK. They will only use your details to post your prospectus and will remove your data from their systems as soon as your prospectus has been posted. We will not share your data with any other third parties.

Your details will not be transferred outside of the EEA without your consent.

Legal basis: we will process your data based on GDPR Article 6(1)(f) - legitimate interests.

How do we market to you?

If you choose to receive marketing communications from us, we will use data you have provided so that we can send you information about events you may be interested in, such as Open Days and Tours, information about studying at UAL, living in London, fees and funding, and other information to support your application to UAL.

We will store your marketing preferences in our SITS database as described above and will use SITS Campaign Manager to send communications to you.

Do we carry out profiling?

We will use the information you have given us about the courses you are interested in and where you live to limit the amount of contact we make with you and inform you only of what we think is relevant to you. If you would not like us to carry out this profiling, please contact us and we can ensure you receive all marketing emails. Please bear in mind that this will mean you will receive information that is not relevant to your interests.

What do we do with your data?

If you have opted in to receive marketing from us, we will keep your details until you unsubscribe or until two years after your intended year of study (whichever comes first). If you also have an event booking, enquiry or prospectus request, we will keep a record of them as detailed above, regardless of your marketing preferences.

We process your information based on your consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a). You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, in which case we will delete your data. All non-operational communications will contain a link allowing you to update your communication preferences, and you can also do this through the Portal at any time.
